Spinning Fibre, Roving and Top
Mohair is a very high quality, natural fiber renowned for its exceptional warmth and outstanding softness.
Raw Kid Mohair - This particular lot of kid mohair is straight from a little kid goat named Urian. This is his first shear ever. He has a prize-winning fleece (23 micron) with a 5.0”– 6.0” staple length. This mohair is very, very soft and silky and has great lustre. It is just lovely to touch. Since our goats are allowed to be goats, this fleece contains a very small amount (if any) of vegetable matter (chaff) that will fall out as you spin. There are no stickers or burrs. The resulting fibre is so very soft it would be suitable for baby wear. $5.00/oz
Mohair is the hair of the Angora goat. The mohair fiber is smooth, strong and resilient it does not attract or hold dirt particles. It is very lustrous and shiny comparable to silk. Mohair absorbs dye evenly and permanently and has a wonderful sheen.
Kid Mohair - This is the softest, finest mohair. This particular lot of mohair is from a Kid goat named Ultimate. He is the handsome little buck in the picture at the top of this fleece picture. The picture was taken right before he was shorn this fall. This is his first shear ever. He has a prize-winning fleece (23 micron) with a 6.0”– 6.5” staple length. This mohair is very soft and silky. The hair is very curly and has great lustre. We very lovingly and very carefully washed this fleece ourselves. It dried naturally in the fresh air. This product comes from a non-smoking house. Since our goats are allowed to be goats, these locks contain a small amount of vegetable matter (chaff) that will fall out as you spin. The resulting fibre is so soft it would be suitable for baby wear.

Beautiful Billowy Rovings
Softest, Finest Yearling Mohair Sliver - This particular lot of mohair is from our yearling goat named Regina. This is her first shear as a yearling. This mohair is very soft and silky. The hair is very curly and has great lustre. We very lovingly and very carefully washed and processed this fleece ourselves. It dried naturally in the fresh air. The locks were carefully finger teased, picked then carded. The resulting card sliver is composed of combed, uniform, parallel fibres called a top or tops. It is fairly easy to work with a sliver. Some people will spin it from the side, others will pull off strips lengthwise and still others chose to blend it with other fibres. Personally I like to pull it into a roving set it into a basket and spin it. It is so incredibly soft it is suitable for baby wear or anything that may be worn near the skin.
$20.00 for 4oz Sliver

Mohair is known as 'the diamond fibre' because it has the ability to completely and permanently absorb dye without losing its lustrous shining surface. Brilliant colours will resist fading with time or hard wear.

Le mohair est aussi reconnu comme « la fibre diamantée » à cause de sa capacité d’absorber totalement la teinture, sans toutefois y perdre son éclat brillant.  Malgré l’usage et le temps, la couleur conservera toujours sa teinte initiale.

Hello Everyone!!

I will be updating this page over the next couple of weeks. I have some lovely Spinning Fibre, Roving and Top to add.

I found some wonderful Charollais Wool in Ontario and it is so soft. It is softer than any merino wool that I've ever seen. I blended it with some mohair.

I also have some lovely Dorset Horn wool that I blended as well. I only had a limited amount of Dorset Horn wool so I only have one blend with it.

I have some pictures to take of my products and will update this page shortly.

Thank you so much for dropping by!!

Sincerely,

Teresa Michaud
